Hello, I'm Sheila Gravel.

I'm an experienced designer and seamstress with an enviable background in the sewing industry. I created 'Stitch That' to channel my expertise into providing a high quality garmet design and construction service for local people.

 I am based in Doncaster and have a well documented background in the sewing industry.  To date, I have 30 years of valuable experience in sewing and the construction of a wide range of garments. As a mature student, I gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Clothing and Fashion, and was invited to show my collection of clothes at the "Enlarge Your Tent Event" in Leeds after the organisers attended my final degree show. After viewing my work at the Design Centre in London in July 2000, I was invited by "Out on a Limb" magazine in London to have my collection shown in their magazine. My own designs were shown at the Clothtec trade fair in 1999.

My work placements whilst attending University took me to the Globe Theatre and Central Saint Martins in London, where I  was involved in garment manufacture and in the hand sewing of costumes.  This was in addition to helping with the final Fashion Show at Central Saint Martins.

I have been teaching in a local College for the past few years, I've taught textiles in secondary schools, and have also worked for the Workers Education Association, a charity that works with adults who are seeking new skills.

I specialise in clothing for those with special needs, and was awarded the prestigious Regional and National Edexcel Award for Commitment to Learning in 1998, in fact my name was mentioned in the House of Commons for my commitment and achievements in Life Long Learning.
